#1 - Well played Squad Busters! One of the best gaming adverts I’ve seen 👀
When you launch a new mobile game you need as many people as possible to jump in at launch. The churn rate (players dropping out) is extremely high. You need the masses and you need them immediately. How do you get their attention? A kick-ass advert is one way. What makes a kick-ass advert for gamers? Relatable humour and a star-studded cast. This has lashings of both. Even the B-team squad line-up is fire - Dolph Lundgren!
We’ll overlook them stealing the tagline from Call of Duty…
#2 – One Future Football changes the game ⚽
If you haven’t heard of One Future Football, do yourself a favour and check it out. It’s the world's first global virtual football league with player ownership, fantasy, killer kits, celebrity owners and fan control you've never seen before. It’s like an old-school Championship Manager game brought into modern times, with fictional teams and players brought to life by AI. It’s a fascinating model that will undoubtedly be applied to other sporting codes. I jump in almost daily to rack up my points and train players. Can’t wait to see where this goes next… If you want to sign up, use my referral code.
#3 – A South Korean zombie apocalypse 🧟
I love Great Big Story content because it’s unexpected and you always learn something new. This is no exception. Being married to a wonderful Korean woman and having lived in Seoul for two years, I’ve seen my fair share of Korean movies and dramas. They do horror and thrillers really well. Train to Busan is a classic zombie movie. It’s no surprise then that there is this level of SFX mastery in the industry there.
#4 – Digitize your clothing care labels 😎
I love seeing people come up with innovative solutions for really simple everyday things. Like most people, I’ve cut so many irritating labels out of clothes over the years. Whilst I wouldn’t have a use for this, because I pretty much chuck everything in on the same cycle, there will be loads of people that this really appeals to. Checkout the Kickstarter.
#5 – Louis Vuitton’s new entertainment division 🎥
When I read this, it was a pretty obvious development given the content-rich world we live in. Still, I was a little surprised. Whilst Nike has an infinite catalogue of athlete and sport-related stories it can tell, LVMH has the same from the world of fashion. Now, my first thought is that I couldn’t care less about that world, but then I thought the same about Formula 1 and Tour De France until I saw the incredible Netflix shows that got me hooked. I wouldn’t be surprised if whatever content comes out from this has the same effect.
The simple act of reading about an act of kindness can also give your love hormone (Oxytocin) levels a boost. So feel the love… ❤
