#1 - Creative Photo Awards
The 2024 Creative Photo Award winners were announced late last year. A picture is worth a thousand words right, so I’ll leave it here…
#2 - IKEA Recruits for Roblox Roles
First announced back in June, and I’m only just getting around to covering it. I bet it passed many of you by. This is quite unexpected from IKEA. They are known for some great marketing stunts, but this is their first venture into gaming. ‘The Co-Worker Game’ allows players to experience working in IKEA’s virtual universe and some are even getting paid for it.
#3 - Buildings of the Future
Architecture can be as powerful as art. Arguably (an easy one to win) it is art. It makes you feel something. I have places I love to spend time in for the architecture alone, wiling away a couple of hours just watching the world go by. Tranquility. Unfortunately, we are mostly surrounded by pretty average buildings designed to be constructed quickly at a low cost for maximum profit. Perhaps we need the balance to make the great stuff stand out more. Otherwise, I guess Banksy’s would just become like “Dave Woz Ere” tags if surrounded by heaps of other thought-provoking pieces. Would like to see a few more beautiful buildings though…
#4 - WeRoad
Love this example of taking a simple insight; a lot of annual leave goes unused, and turning it into a creative campaign. The content is pretty full-on, but that’s the point. A lot of travel brand campaigns look the same. This stands out. It’s also pretty rough as far as production goes, but this would have been cheap and easy to make, which in the travel category is probably quite unusual, given the polished, beautiful location-centric content we typically see.
#5 - I Love the Smell of Bacon in the morning
Who doesn’t love bacon!? Ok, lots of crazy people… This is great. A really simple insight and piece of creative. I love how the movies are instantly recognisable from a couple of sentences (bypassing licensing $$$ - genius!). Only one thing is missing… Ketchup. Am I right!?
The simple act of reading about an act of kindness can also give your love hormone (Oxytocin) levels a boost. So feel the love… ❤
Boy's goody bags praised by ambulance crews - what a little sweetie, pun intended…
Rose’s (Blackpink) APT makes it onto the Cool Sh*t Spotify playlist this week. Read about why Korean kids boycott this song (for a bit) here.
ICYMI - Cool Sh*t Vol. 48 - Marvel, Airbnb, Furby, Coors, FRIEND AI and more...
Cool Sh*t is typically written from the comfort of my own home, here in Sydney, Australia - Gadigal land. Always was, always will be. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present. I extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
