#1 - Deadpool and Wolverine go butt to butt
For Marvel’s latest Deadpool & Wolverine movie, Xbox got a little cheeky. Having launched the Deadpool-designed custom Xbox Wireless Controller previously, fans love big butts so much, they screamed as loud as they could to get a Wol verine-inspired tush too. Xbox of course delivered.
Throw in a bit of basic but funny marketing (Ryan Reynolds X, TikTok) and this quickly became cool sh*t. Know your audience! Pure silly stunt-type marketing, but I love it.
#2 - Airbnb Olympics advert
In a world full of bland, sometimes over-complicated advertising, which I typically try to ignore, this really leapt out to me from the TV during the Olympics.
I love the aesthetic and animation style, the music, the representation, and the simplicity of its message. “If it’s always been a dream to go to Paris, why stay in a hotel on the touristy side of Paris, get an Airbnb on the Parisy side of Paris”. True and simple.
They had some other great marketing throughout the event, including this opportunity to watch the Olympic men's basketball final with four-time NBA champion and former captain of the French national team, Tony Parker.
#3 - Long Furbys or Odd Bois
(Credit: Oz Dean, Creative Partner at blood)
I discovered this by pure chance and had never heard about this weird corner of the internet:
A LongFurby, often also referred to as Long Boi, is an odd body Furby known for its long body. They vary in length but are generally in the 3 to 5-foot range. Traditionally, they still have their ears and feet, but the only real requirement is that they have the Furby face.
They are Furby’s customised by fans who want to make them TERRIFYING unique.
#4 - Coors Lights Out
I missed this one earlier this year but I think Coors knocked it out of the park. The video case study is all you need to know about the campaign, but talk about a brand being reactive. Such a simple opportunity they knew how to capitalise on.
#5 - FRIEND AI wearable

Friend - “not imaginary”.
“Aiming to revolutionise personal connections by offering constant companionship and support.”
A $99 USD device that acts as your Friend. (Dystopian much?)
The launch video has been getting a lot of attention, along with the news that the start-up founder behind Friend spent US$1.8m to buy the domain name friend dot com.
The simple act of reading about an act of kindness can also give your love hormone (Oxytocin) levels a boost. So feel the love… ❤
Waiter lifts emotional lady’s spirit
Yannis & The Yaw’s ‘Rain Can’t Reach Us’ makes it onto the Cool Sh*t Spotify playlist this week. The music video is incredible! (Credit: Oz Dean, Creative Partner at blood)
ICYMI - Cool Sh*t Vol. 47 - Squad Busters mobile game ad, One Future Football's virtual league, Korean zombies, digital clothing care labels, Louis Vuitton and more...
Cool Sh*t is typically written from the comfort of my own home, here in Sydney, Australia - Gadigal land. Always was, always will be. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present. I extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
